CEO Casey Jostine gives men fashion tips for spring

Casey Jostine has melded the world of technology and fashion with his brand, <dresscode/>. The director of operations at RenderATL, Jostine recently spoke to rolling out about tips for attire as we go into warmer temperatures.

Where did the idea of <dresscode/> come from?

<dresscode/> is the merge of fashion and tech. I’m a product manager here at Microsoft, but I also love fashion. So I decided to figure out a way to merge these two worlds and these two passions together, and that’s how I created <dresscode/>. So <dresscode/> is a tech-inspired clothing brand that merges those two worlds but also it’s the premise of being able to diversify the technical pool that we see as far as advocates in the tech industry.

What are some fashion tips you have for men in the spring?

So for the spring, we’re talking about highlights, shirts, shorts, and anything that allows you to redefine the dress code. So when you think about technologists or folks in the technology industry, it’s regular; like T-shirts, plaided pants, and boat shoes, but we need to figure out a way to bring that culture into fashion as well. So we do that through <dresscode/>.

What are you wearing tonight?

I got on a cardigan, a fresh little T-shirt, some jeans and some J’s that I just purchased not too long ago. Every single day, we’re starting to redefine the dress code, being able to allow people to express themselves creatively, especially if you’re in the tech industry as well.

What are your three favorite apps?

I’ll definitely say Pinterest is one for me.

Pinterest allows for inspiration. Whenever I’m stuck on an idea, whatever I’m pushing for, some creativity, I’ll go to Pinterest, type in something and scroll down there for hours. Then from there,

Never combine more than three colors in any outfit to avoid a fashion disaster

We all want to look fashionable but budgetary constraints often kill our dreams when we think of investing in the right outfits.

However, you can still look chic if you know how to carry the outfits the right way.

Rachel J Amirtharaj, celebrity fashion designer, and founder of La Fantaisie shares some budget-friendly fashion tips that’ll make you stand out without breaking the bank.

Ditch glam and bling and embrace simple looks to shine among the crowd and look classy, elegant, and stylish.

Wearing blingy outfits can make it seem as though you are craving attention while simple and elegant ensembles are not only affordable but also look sober and chic.

Keep it classic with a dress in a soft white tone to look fashionable on a budget.

Go for a monochromatic look

Unlike patterns, monochromatic looks can make you look super-stylish and well-groomed.

It creates a seamless line from head to toe and also makes you appear slimmer and taller.

If you have black colored trousers or jeans, pair them with the same colored top for a classy and trendy look.

To enhance the look, wear a gold-tone layered neck chain and dark sunglasses.

One of the most magical accessories in your wardrobe, a belt can change your overall semblance and make you look fashionable and elegant in a jiffy without the need to spend any extra money.

You can wear a classic tan or black belt with trousers, skirts, or dresses to add

“Will they run out of oil or ideas first?” says commenter

In this week’s comments update, readers are discussing Saudi Arabia’s plans for a giant cube-shaped supertall skyscraper in downtown Riyadh.

The overwhelming response from commenters to the cube-shaped skyscraper was to draw comparisons with the Star Trek alien group The Borg, whose space ship was known as The Borg Cube due to its shape.

Paul L asked “have The Borg landed?”

“The Borg Cube has landed and Jean-Luc Picard will convince you all to join,” answered Wyriwig.

Andyandysh reminded readers The Borg have already warned they would come for us: “‘Strength is irrelevant. Resistance is futile. We wish to improve ourselves. We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own’ – The Borg”.

JZ considered it in a different light, commenting “[it] reminds me of a bit of Boullée, which is appealing but the power of that project was the absence of commerce”.

Gytis Bickus was upvoted for echoing a similar sentiment with their question: “will they run out of oil or ideas first?”

Meanwhile Justlikemyopinionman just wanted to know if the video contained a dinosaur. “Was that a pterodactyl?” they queried.

Does The Borg mean anything to you? (They’re coming) Join the discussion ›

Two-storey home in a forest with a glazed ground floor and mirror-clad upper floor
Studio Okami Architecten has created the Beli House in Belgian woodland

“Killer home for birds”

Belgian practice Studio Okami Architecten’s mirror-clad woodland villa in Antwerp, garnered a slew of comments concerned for local birdlife.

“The mirror cladding doesn’t make the house disappear, it just makes it look ridiculous,” said Alfred Hitchcock. “It will also be covered in dead birds, regardless of what the architect thinks.”

HiKoo joked that if the house disappears in reflections of the surrounding forest, “it’ll make birds disappear also”.

“The vanity of humankind at the expense of nature!” lamented ThinkAgain. “Confusing for poor

Ideas for a growing city, but who pays?

O P I N I O N

Paying for Vision that becomes Reality

Over the past few years, I have shared things that could make our city an even greater place to live, work, and play. One question that I am asked a lot is how we would pay for the ideas/projects. As I have said in the past, vision is free, it’s realizing the vision that costs money. And of course, although I like to see the end result of things that I propose, I understand that in many cases we need to “dream big but start small.”

Even though vision is free, I do understand that if vision is to become reality, at some point, financial investments will need to be made. While thinking about this, I have come up with some ideas on how projects could be funded. Because I do not believe that the government should be expected to pay for everything, I will be presenting multiple ideas.

Sometimes companies will provide funding for projects because they not only help improve the community, but can help the company recruit and retain workers as well as attract more business and get contracts. Think about it; many employees are attracted to companies that are located in nice communities with good schools and with things like restaurants, shopping, etc. In addition, working for the company that is involved in the community is a plus. It’s a win-win. So let’s think of some companies, especially locally-owned ones, that may be willing to help finance a project in exchange for – in addition to publicity – naming rights or some other benefit. (Maybe a benefit that could be passed off to employees).

The city has received some grants for various

Eloise said to look out for loose threads on pant hems and seams and suggested cutting them off to look more high-end.

‘It usually does happen to fast fashion brands which are deemed as cheaper in comparison to luxury brands,’ she explained.

‘They don’t have the time to cut off loose threads due to the lower quality and the lower manufacturing standards.’

She suggested snipping any stray threads as well as pulls in cheap fabrics.

‘This can also be a pull in the fabric which is usually because of the lower quality fabric so try and avoid

Mercedes’ G-Class leaves mud behind to become Fashion Week art work

LONDON: Mercedes’ enormous G-Class is taking an unusual detour onto the catwalk, and together with fashion brand Moncler, the manufacturer has pimped its off-roader into a work of luxury fashion and sent it to Fashion Week in London.

In a tribute to Moncler’s shiny ribbed puffer jackets, a convertible version of the G-Class has been given huge shiny tyres and a soft top in the same look as the fashion house clothes, according to the manufacturer.

Besides looking like a designer handbag on wheels, the “Project Mondo G” design is full of peculiar contrasts, and while the paint on the G-Class is matt, the buffer decals shimmer and sparkle brightly in the headlights.

The soft, wavy shapes of these elements also stand in stark contrast to the clear, angular design of the G-Class, says Mercedes design chief Gorden Wagener, praising this contradiction as particularly inspiring.

Officially, the project is only about exploring new ideas, but Sales Director Britta Seeger is already hinting that there could be more to come soon.

And a look at recent automotive history supports this assumption: About 10 years ago, Daimler’s Smart designers initiated a very similar project with the US artist Jeremy Scott – and then actually produced a limited series of the small car with the fashion designer’s famous angel wings.
