I’m a young mum but people reckon my fashion sense makes me look old – they call me a Grandma but I think I look good

A YOUNG mum has been compared to a grandmother due to her dressing sense, which some reckon ages her by decades.

After giving birth to her two children, Lisa P., from South Carolina, the US, felt she had lost her identity.

For years, Lisa struggled with finding her identity - until she discovered fashion

The former chef had suddenly become a full-time mum and a wife, and was struggling for years to find herself again – until she stumbled upon her new passion – fashion.

”It took me a few years to figure out this whole fashion thing, but here I am, with a fully curated and ever-evolving sense of personal style that has made me a more vibrant version of myself,” the mum-of-two wrote in her blog.

Since starting this journey, Lisa has shared her fashion tips and outfit ideas on TikTok, where her account boasts more than 556k fans.

There are lots of bright cardigans, bedazzled headbands, blouses that often follow trends from the 50s.

But whilst Lisa may feel her best and most true self rocking these stunning garments, mean trolls on social media share a slightly different opinion.

In their eyes, the longer dresses and knitted clothes make the mum look older.

One such meanie commented, saying: ”Ma’am, you need to dress your age.

”Your too pretty to be looking like a grandma [sic].”

Fortunately, Lisa was having none of it and immediately posted a clip hitting back at the negative remarks.

”I find this comment so funny because I do like to dress with a little bit more of a 1950s throwback.”

She added that this style often tends to appear ”more sophisticated” and ”older” to some.

But that wasn’t it – Lisa also took this as a challenge to turn herself into a ”millennial mum”.

”Basically using all the tips I see here, on TikTok, from the IT girls and putting them on myself and see how I look,” she explained in the video.

For the transformation, she first started with a modern make-up routine, which she was quite fond of.

”It’s a more minimal glam and honestly, I liked how it turned out. It was really pretty.”

Next, Lisa attempted to try a new hairdo, using her curling wand for a bouncy blow-out look.

Switching her outfit, Lisa then jumped into a pair of straight leg jeans, an oversized turtleneck and white trainers.

The overall colour combination, she said, was quite neutral and she opted to steer clear of accessories – which is unusual to her signature style.

Checking herself out in the reflection, Lisa said: ”I don’t know. It doesn’t feel like me.

”But I can definitely see why people wear this.”

The response on TikTok was divided – whilst some preferred the updated look, others said her style fit the mum better.

One person reckoned: ”omg you look so much younger after.”

Someone else agreed, adding: ”I think I like the new look. I didn’t realize it before but the “old” you looks dated next to this look and does age you a bit.”

”I love either style on you but at the end of the day, your comfort with a style is most important. That shines through in your normal style,” a third reminded.

”You look fantastic both ways. Your style suits you more though, it’s you!” another fan commented.
