After denying Jay-Z’s cool, Blue Ivy now asks for her dad’s fashion advice

In a new interview with Gayle King, Jay-Z discusses his evolving relationship with his oldest daughter, Blue Ivy.

Jay-Z and Beyoncé can sell out arenas around the world together and apart, but they weren’t always recognized as the global superstars they are by their eldest of three children, 11-year-old Blue Ivy.

Jay-Z, whom many might argue is the epitome of cool, revealed in a multi-part interview with Gayle King for “CBS Mornings” that he was once a source of embarrassment for Blue.

“She used to be frontin’ on me a little bit,” he told King when asked if his oldest child thinks he’s cool.

He added, “There was a time where she was like, ‘Daaaaad’,” he teased, doing an impression of Blue covering her face in embarrassment.

Whenever Blue would question her parents’ coolness, Jay-Z would reportedly tell her, “I’m cool. I don’t know what you sayin’; I’m cool! You got cool parents! At your house, your parents [are] cool.”

Some may recall Blue being less than impressed when Jay-Z was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2021. Thankfully, as she’s entered her preteen years, the mogul said she’s turned a corner on her perception of her father and his “coolness.”

“I catch her,” he said. “I catch her in the corner, you know? Now she asks me, you know, if this is cool; if her sneakers [are cool].”

Blue has not only asked her dad for style advice, she’s even begun to dress like him occasionally. The pair made headlines when they attended the Super Bowl at the State Farm Stadium in Arizona

Princess Diana is gone, but never forgotten in the royal family, especially when it comes to fashion. Kate Middleton’s latest nod to her late mother-in-law is through a houndstooth coat that she wore to the Wales vs. England Six Nations rugby match in Cardiff on Saturday.

More from SheKnows

This is a coat the Princess of Wales has on royal repeat from one of her favorite designers, Catherine Walker. The red-and-white houndstooth print has big red buttons and hits her just above the knees. She paired it with a chic black turtleneck, black leather gloves, and a white handbag. She kept her legs warm on the chilly day in black tights and shortie black boots. The last time royal fans saw this coat on her, was at an event in 2018 while she was pregnant with her youngest child, Prince Louis.

Princess Diana wore a similar look for the first time in 1990 at the christening of Princess Eugenie. The cropped jacket by Moschino was a red, white, and black houndstooth print that she styled in a way that was very reminiscent of that fashion era. Diana paired the coat with a black-and-white houndstooth pencil skirt, a black turtleneck, a red hat with a black band, black gloves, and red-and-black heels.

Kimora Lee Simmons cheers on lookalike daughter Aoki walking in fashion show

Sergio Hudson’s runway had onlookers doing a double take.

Model, businesswoman and fashion designer Kimora Lee Simmons snapped photos with her phone and cheered on daughter Aoki Lee Simmons from the front row as her lookalike model offspring strutted down the catwalk at Hudson’s New York Fashion Week show on Feb 11.

Aoki, 20, hit the runway twice during the show at Spring Studios in Manhattan, sporting a strong-shouldered black miniskirt suit with a purple statement belt and matching trim plus zippered pocket detailing, tights and sky-high heels.

Her second look, which she modelled as Megan Thee Stallion’s Her blasted from the speakers, was a charcoal denim ensemble with a long-sleeve button-front top and shorts, paired with a black belt and patent black platform heels.

The Baby Phat designer, 47, was beaming with a big smile as she watched her daughter walk the runway. She donned a yellow animal-print minidress with power shoulders, pairing it with tights and knee-high black boots for the occasion.

Other front row standouts included Joy Reid, Sunny Hostin and Tiffany D. Cross. Tucked away near the camera flashes was Real Housewives Of Salt Lake City star Meredith Marks.

There was also a full family affair the previous night at Prabal Gurung’s show on Feb 10, as Kimora Lee Simmons sat with Aoki and daughter Ming, 23, who she shares with ex Russell Simmons. Before hitting runways and modelling in campaigns as professionals, both daughters modelled for Baby Phat as kids.

Aoki has been vocal on TikTok about her experiences as a model – and as the daughter of two very famous parents. Ahead of New York Fashion Week, she took to the app to share tips on what to bring to a modelling job and showcasing her go-to model gear. – USA Today/Tribune News Service

Simone Biles Wears Crop Top and Dior x Nike Sneakers

On Wednesday, Simone Biles posted a shoe selfie on her Instagram Story, showing off a new pair of kicks that any fan of the logomania trend would lust over. In the background of the image, you can spot the football field where Biles’s fiancé, Jonathan Owens, frequently practices. Front and center were her Nike sneakers, totally covered in logo-printed Dior canvas, propped up on the railing. The sneakers featured chunky white rope laces and what looked to be a black bungee that crisscrossed each shoe. In a video following that post, she stood in front of a mirror, wearing black leggings and a white crop top, which showed off the shoes from all angles. With a slow zoom-in, Biles gave fans an ultraclose peek at the bold footwear. In a third video, Biles revealed that there were not one but two different pairs — one in brown and one in black. The caption read, “ok I’m obsessed. If you see me wearing these nonstop, mind your business.”

Biles’s sneakers, however, have yet to be seen anywhere other than on the gymnast’s own feet. Could they be a custom order? Or, perhaps, a special prerelease of a larger drop? Only time will tell. Until then, the rest of us non-Olympians will simply have to swoon over them from afar.

Even when Biles is having a relaxed date night that consists of watching her husband-to-be practice with his team, her style often manages to capture just the right mix of casual and trendy — yesterday, for instance, the
