We’ve come a long way from the days of one-size-fits-all fashion, but it can still be difficult to find plus-size clothing stores that offer cute, easily-accessible items. Plus-size bodies deserve more than shapeless dresses and ill-fitting tunics, yet some stores with plus-size options only provide a small range of styles despite the fact that the majority of American women wear a size 14 or larger.

Luckily, plus-size fashion creators are stepping up to the plate to share expert suggestions, try-on hauls, and outfit ideas for women who have had less-than-stellar experiences shopping for plus-size clothing. The TikTok hashtag #PlusSizeFashion has over 3.5 billion views, boasting videos from influencers sharing fashion inspiration and fit tips specifically for plus-sized bodies.

Samyra (@samyra) is the creator behind a video with over 35.4k likes on TikTok titled “Where I shop as a plus sized person,” and she tells Seventeen, “Shopping as a plus-sized person can be extremely difficult because stores won’t carry your sizes in store even if they carry them online. But I don’t stay in my assigned seat at all — if a store has a plus-size section in the back corner, I’ll still check out the entire store and go through all of the racks.”

And if you’ve had traumatizing experiences shopping for clothing in the past, know that you are not alone. “I’m glad stores are starting to integrate plus-size clothing with straight sizes, rather than having that separation of plus-size clothing in a different corner,” remarks Samyra. “But it still takes time to become comfortable with yourself and realize that size doesn’t determine beauty, size doesn’t determine worth, and beauty doesn’t determine worth, either. Realizing that can literally change your entire shopping experience.”
