Johnny Depp re-signs with Dior as face of Sauvage Cologne

He first became the face of the men’s scent in 2015  and now, Johnny Depp, 59, has reportedly signed back with Dior to continue being the face of their Sauvage cologne in a multi-year deal worth millions.

According to a report, he signed on the dotted line for a seven-figure sum and already has new promotional photos ready for a new campaign, while his legal woes with ex-wife Amber Heard, 36, continue.

According to TMZ, Johnny inked the new deal to continue fronting the fragrance after fashion photographer Greg Williams attended one of Johnny and Jeff Beck’s gigs in Paris.

The publication claims that before and after the concert, Johnny did a photo shoot with Greg, with the resulting artwork set to be be used in a new Dior advertising campaign.

Dior stood by Johnny throughout his recent trial, and sales of the cologne he advertises, Sauvage, rose at retailers, the Wall Street Journal reported in early June.

The publication stated that the cosmetics retailer and its competitor Ulta have both seen increasing sales for Depp’s cologne, making it among their top-selling fragrances online.

Meanwhile, Johnny is still entangled in legal battles with his Amber Heard – as the actress fights to overturn a court’s June settlement against her.

He was awarded $10.35 million for damages after a defamation suit against his ex-wife.

But The Aquaman actress has appealed for the award to be overturned, two months after she was ordered to pay.

Amber was denied a request for a mistrial a week before, arguing that one of the jurors on the case shouldn’t have been eligible to serve because his summons was intended for his father, who had the same name and lived at the same address.

Depp to return as face of Dior’s Sauvage cologne after winning suit

It smells like things are looking up for Johnny Depp.

The “Pirates of the Caribbean” alum, 59, seems to still be on an upswing after winning his defamation suit against ex-wife Amber Heard earlier this summer, in part thanks to the multi-year contract he just signed with Dior, TMZ reports.

The reportedly seven-figure deal will see the three-time Oscar nom -who originally signed with the fashion house in 2015 – resume his role as the face of the company’s Sauvage scent for men, the outlet has learned.

Dior Beauty took to Instagram Monday, in a partnered post with Depp,to share fashion photographer Greg Williams’ black and white stills of him ahead of recently taking to the stage with Jeff Beck in Paris.

“Fearless yet human, just like Sauvage,” the caption reads.

The images shot by Williams will reportedly be utilized in a new campaign for Dior, insiders told TMZ.

Though Depp’s ad for the cologne disappeared from TV following Heard’s allegations of abuse, they eventually returned to the small screen even before Depp’s win.

The former couple’s tumultuous relationship took center stage earlier this year in a weeks long defamation trial that set the internet ablaze with all their dirty laundry as Depp sought $50 million and the “Aquaman” star, 36, sought $100 million in a counter suit.

A Virginia jury in June found that Heard’s 2018 Washington Post op-ed- in which she identified herself as “a public figure representing domestic abuse,” though she never named Depp – warranted Depp receiving $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages. The verdict was ultimately lowered to $10.35million.

Meanwhile, Heard’s countersuit – which focused on claims by Depp lawyer Adam Waldman that her allegations against the actor were a hoax – awarded her $2 million in damages. —

“What A Come Back!” Dior Sticks With Depp, Renewing Seven-Figure Sauvage Contract Despite DV Allegations

French fashion house Dior has reappointed Johnny Depp as the face of its men’s fragrance Sauvage for a reported multi-million dollar sum.

Depp, 59, has fronted the brand since 2017 in a then $US5 million deal; however, there was speculation he may have been punted following his recent and highly publicised defamation case against his former wife, Amber Heard.

Depp ultimately won the case in early June and was awarded $US15 million ($A21 million) in damages by the presiding judge.

According to the Business of Fashion, Sauvage is now the biggest selling fragrance in the world, be it men’s or women’s.

Dior halted its Depp-fronted marketing during the defamation trial but immediately restarted it – both outdoor and TVCs – once Depp won the case.

Interestingly, Depp’s Dior campaign was criticised in 2019 for allegedly misappropriating native Indian culture.

And the evidence appears to be the brand has made the right move, with social media largely favourable of the actor and musician’s reappointment.

And maths appear to be in Depp’s and Dior’s favour. During the height of the defamation case – that hogged newspaper headlines across the globe –  Dior reported a marked upswing in sales of the men’s fragrance that many pundits put down to as a show of support for the maligned actor.

Meanwhile, others agitated that Dior should’ve parted ways with the Pirates Of The Caribbean star due to allegations of domestic abuse that arose during the trial.

On Monday, the French fashion house shared a series of photos to Instagram featuring monotone stills of Depp before he joined Jeff Beck on stage in Paris, as well as a video of him talking about the cologne.

And it appears social media is on Depp’s side, many people posting their support of the brand for sticking
