When talking about summer clothing, how can one forget white? You can maintain the cool with whites; they perfectly balance casual, easygoing, and stylish. It is what you need on a hot summer day. Shop Maryland Tax-Free Week Starts Sunday, Continues Through Saturday – The Baltimore Times Online Newspaper

Shop Maryland Tax-Free Week kicks off this Sunday with big savings for consumers in need of a new wardrobe for school, work, spending time outside or just hanging around the house.

“Shop Maryland Tax-Free Week is the annual reminder that summer is drawing to an end and kids will soon return to classrooms,” Comptroller Peter Franchot said. “I encourage all Marylanders to take advantage of reduced prices and support local retailers throughout our great state.”

During the annual end-of-summer tradition, which runs through Saturday, August 20, any single qualifying article of clothing or footwear priced $100 or less – regardless of how many items are purchased in the same transaction – will be exempt from the state’s six percent sales tax. The first $40 of any backpack purchase is also tax free.

The week is particularly critical to locally-owned retailers who count on increased sales to make it through the slow summer season. Many stores offer additional discounts on top of the tax savings to entice more customers.

“Tax-free week is an excellent time to save extra on clothing, footwear and backpacks,” said Cailey Locklair, president of the Maryland Retailers Association. “Stores will be offering excellent deals you won’t want to miss. We cannot stress enough the importance of supporting your local brick and mortar stores who employ Marylanders, provide much needed tax revenue to our state and stabilize our communities.”

Visit the Comptroller’s website for a list of tax-exempt itemsfrequently asked questions, and valuable facts for shoppers and merchants. The Comptroller’s social media pages will promote the special savings week, showcasing local retailers and encouraging shoppers to take advantage of the promotion.

10 Going To The Beach

This year the fashion scene has been quite strong when it comes to beachy vibes and getting that always-on vacation look or the coastal look. A favorite look due to its use of comfortable items is leaning into coastal vibes with a two-piece outfit, a button-down with boxer shorts over a bikini with a bucket hat.

The more you can coordinate the colors, the better but it is absolutely not necessary.

Tula Is Coming for Your Makeup Bag With New Skincare-Foundation Hybrid Perfect for Summer

It’s not just the heat of the summer that makes me want to skip foundation. I live in Los Angeles so it’s pretty warm here year-round. It’s the look of the summer, the casual vibe that makes heavy foundation feel like too much. Tula’s new Radiant Skin Brightening Serum Skin Tint is just that and more. It features skincare-like ingredients with the perfect amount of coverage to nourish my skin and let my freckles still show through.

This isn’t just any tinted moisturizer. This newbie contains a blend of rainbow seaweed and niacinamide to help brighten and even skin tone, as well as hydrating hyaluronic acid and ceramides, prebiotics and probiotic extracts, and line-smoothing collagen. Yes, this is all in one skin tint. Plus, there’s broad spectrum SPF 30 to help protect your skin from UVA/UVB rays. (As always with SPF in makeup, we still recommend wearing sunscreen underneath.)

There are a whopping 30 shades to choose from, which take into account undertones. That’s more than when usually see for a shade-forgiving skin tint that has long-wearing, buildable light-medium coverage. (Foundation is different, of course. We expect 40+ shades in that case!) This ensures the perfect match you’ll wear all the time — summer and beyond.

While I prefer to focus on what’s inside a makeup product instead of what isn’t, Tula has the list of “nos” you might be looking for. I especially like that this formula is fragrance-free and formulated without dairy, gluten, parabens, sulfates (SLS and SLES), phthalates, mineral oil and petrolatum. It’s also cruelty-free so bunnies are safe here.
